Welcome Back for an Exciting Term 2

We hope you all had a super fun Easter and Term 1 break. I have thoroughly enjoyed the change of pace and am raring to go. Rejuvenated, inspired, ready to take on the world…..(you get the picture)

Our Under 10, 12 and 17 Comp teams all did a great job at their first comp over the break. Well done! We are very proud of you all and the way you represented the studio. We look forward to great things from you all this year. Keep up the great work and don’t forget to practise every week at home to perfect your dances.

The studio has had a lick of paint both inside and out. Please ensure your children respect the environment both in the studios and waiting area. We need everyone to respect the space for it to stay fresh. We hope you all saw the new poster on the side of the building. It’s pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

Here we are at the beginning of our marathon term. Take a deep breath and dive right in. It’s almost time to rug up for the winter fun. Don’t forget the waiting area can be a little chilly and all students need warm clothes before and after class. Crossovers and hoodies can be purchased through the office. Pop in and say hi to find out more.

Many of our classes will be focusing on Exam work this term. We are hoping to have our ATOD exams in the first couple of weeks in Term 3. From our Fairies/Elves classes right up to our Grade 6 Cecchetti class the focus will be on Exam preparation. We have them available in Tap, Jazz and Ballet. It will require fine tuning steps and a routine to ensure that all students partaking in the exam are very confident. Our Beginner, Sub Junior and Junior Jazz kids already have their dance to practice and everyone will have theirs soon.

Exams are a great way to ensure that the whole class are learning and mastering steps, combinations and routines which bring everything together. They help build character and confidence in a student’s ability. The steps are often used in concert routines so are very important for everyone. It’s a great way to ensure your child is improving and developing as a dancer every year. Next month I will send out a blog that has much more detail on exams and the benefits of partaking in them. So watch this space.

Most classes will also start their first concert dance this term. The skills that we introduced in Term 1 will be expanded on in Term 2. Don’t forget the television in the waiting area is for our parents to watch your childs dancing journey.

Costumes preparation will begin. Any parent who would like to help with this pop your name down with the office. We are always happy for the help as costumes are a huge job here at Stepnout Performing Arts.

The excitement has just begun!

Until next time……….
